about green

So, what is "green," really? We hear things like, "going green," but what does it mean?

Well, I think that it can mean a lot of things... eco-friendly, non-toxic, natural, organic, reusable, sustainably grown, fair-traded, locally made or just living more simply.

All of our products are green
in some aspect...

By using cloth diapers, you are keeping almost 9,000 diapers per baby out of the landfill!

By "upcycling" cloth and wool into new bags, we are keeping clothing
out of the landfill (and decreasing our consumerism for new products).

By using natural laundry soap you are keeping hazardous chemicals out of our water supply, and also protecting your family's skin.

By purchasing locally made products, you save loads of fuel for transport, and you support small businesses
(and their families)!

By "wearing" your baby in a sling, you reduce the need for contraptions (usually made from plastic) to hold your baby and increase bonding.

By breastfeeding and using reusable nursing pads, you give your baby the best nutrition possible with no waste.

By purchasing organic cotton or hemp materials you keep tons of harmful pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers out of our soil and water supply.

about me

I am a new mom who has had much trouble finding the natural baby products that I feel are safe for my little guy. I don't like plastic, wastefulness, synthetic materials or consumerism, so why would I choose these things for my baby? I wanted quality products that will not end up in the landfill!

I started Teeny Greeny because I want "crunchy" people like me in the Kansas City area to be able to buy green products from someone locally. I want you to be able to see and touch things before you buy them, especially something like a cloth diaper or a sling! I want you to have a real person to answer your questions face to face. This poses a challenge with an online store, but eventually I would love to open a retail store for this purpose. I am more than happy to meet you to show you products or answer questions until then. I also want you to be able to find as many natural baby products in one place, so I will always be adding new products to the inventory. Any suggestions?

Part of my passion for 'green' stems from my belief that we are given a responsibility to care for this earth, which was designed as a beautiful picture that points us toward the Creator. We are stewards of our land, water and air, as well as our bodies, and we should treat these things as though they are God's, and not our own to destroy with our wastefulness, apathy or carelessness.

I am a babywearing, cosleeping, breastfeeding, nature-loving momma to my hilarious toddler son. My inner hippie is coming out more and more as I learn about natural lifestyle choices that are safer and simpler for us.
Often my conversations revolve around natural labor and birth, sustainable and green living, alternative medicine, organic food, and most recently, parenting and education styles. I feel most alive when I am inspired to create... gardening and cooking, re-purposing old furniture, harvesting herbs for a tincture or salve, knitting a bag, or photographing a child.

I am a Certified Birth Doula. Don't know what a doula is? Check it out here: New Creation Doula Services.
